Picking out a Halloween costume is probably one of the biggest decisions to make in October. You want to look cute, but not like you’re trying too hard, all while trying your hardest not to freeze to death as temperatures begin to plummet. Most importantly, you can’t wear another culture as your costume. Good luck trying to accomplish all of that on a college student’s budget! The phrase, “The best things in life are free,” definitely applies when it comes to shopping for Halloween costumes. We’ve compiled a list of our favorite Halloween costumes that will barely cost you a thing!

  1. Rosie the Riveter

It’s all about girl power! This whole costume can easily be compiled with clothes already in your closet. All you need are jeans, a class Chambray shirt, a red bandana, and that’s it; your look is complete. Now just don’t forget to flex!

  1. Audrey Hepburn from Breakfast at Tiffany’s

Who hasn’t seen “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” and just adored Audrey Hepburn’s classic look? Bringing back this blast-to-the-past look is so simple; just put on your favorite little black dress, heels, and lots and lots of pearls. Then put your hair in a updo, and you’re all set!

  1. Netflix and chill

Pretty sure everyone has heard of the saying “Netflix and chill.” Bring that saying to life with this easy costume! All you need is a willing friend and some shirts to decorate.

  1. Biker

Rock your inner bad girl with a classic biker costume. This outfit looks great on everyone, making it perfect for your friend group! Who wouldn’t want to join a biker gang?! All you need is lots of leather: either a leather jacket or a leather skirt, a bandana, and you can’t forget about the tattoo sleeves.

  1. Nerd

Show your needy side this season! All you need are jeans or shorts, suspenders, a bowtie, glasses with masking tape, and pigtails. But the best part of all is you can make this look your own! Don’t forget your calculator and your pocket protector!

  1. Where’s Waldo?

See if anyone can spot you this Halloween! Bring back your favorite childhood book all with clothes that you already own. Put on jeans, a red and white striped shirt, a red hat, and a pair of thick glasses and you’ll be ready to be found.

  1. Hula Dancer

Get ready for a luau with this cute and easy hula dancer costume. Rock a grass skirt that you can pick up for $1 at most dollar stores, your favorite bandeau, and some sandals! Throw on a flower lei and you’re all set to go.

  1. Fruit

Who doesn’t love fruit? Dress up like your favorite kiwi, pineapple, watermelon, strawberry or other type of fruit this Halloween. All you need is a long basic t-shirt, draw on some designs, and you’re good to go! This look would also look great with a bunch of friends. Add your favorite comfy converse to complete this look.

  1. Tacky Tourist

Everyone’s been a tourist once in his or her life, so be one this Halloween! This look is super simple, and you probably have most of this stuff in your closet (or your dad’s)! Wear classic khakis, with an oversized Hawaiian shirt, a large floppy hat, and a fanny pack. Don’t forget the camera!

So there you have it — our favorite easy Halloween looks this fall! No matter what you dress up as this Halloween, Her Campus knows you will rock it. So have a blast this October!
