Getting ready for game day on campus can be fun and stressful for college fashionista’s. Trying to find unique pieces, showing school spirit, while looking fashionable can be difficult in a big school like Wisconsin. During the week of homecoming, the University Bookstore will exclusively feature the socially responsible brand, School House. There are so many outstanding aspects about this brand and company created by college graduate Rachel Weeks who focuses on ethical manufacturing and a superb alternative for fashionable college apparel.
After traveling to Sri Lanka, Weeks developed the School House idea. The clothes are 100 percent made in the U.S.A., utilizes organic cotton, created over 2,000 jobs for people across the U.S., and embraces craftsmanship requiring tailoring unlike any other mass produced brand. The main allure, however, is the uniqueness in the pieces making it difficult for two people to have the same shirt or dress. The brand is very fashion forward and distinctive for each college. I am most excited to see their Wisconsin jersey shirt dresses, like the College of Charleston version, that would be perfect for a fall game accessorized with tights, combat boots, skinny belt and cardigan.
School House offers an online site, though Wisconsin apparel is not yet available so buy all you can at the Bookstore before it sells out! If Badger fashionista’s respond positively to the brand, School House will provide more apparel. The Badger collection is designed for specific season’s as well, so what we see in the fall is not their limited designs for Wisconsin.
Aside from the apparel, School House has a great website and I would recommend following them on Twitter. I found myself entertained by their website because they blog about news in the fashion world, not just their brand. They give great fashion advice on their site that reminisces fashion blogs like College Fashionista & Her Campus. I enjoy their tweets because first of all, they have offers and discounts exclusive to followers and secondly, they are a great source for discovering new fashion trends and showing how to wear them.
You cannot help but feel good about yourself when you shop School House because you are promoting made in the U.S.A. products and investing in key collegiate pieces you know are worth the price. The University Bookstore has not determined the exact release date, so stay tuned and be ready to buy the cutest new campus apparel for the homecoming game!
