Freakfest in Madison is notorious for being “the place to be” on Halloween. Most girls take this opportunity to look, for the sake of a better word, as “loose” as possible, but why follow the crowd? This year make a statement while having a little fun and looking fashionable.

The 60s pilot look is having a big moment right now and Blake Lively shows how to rock this style. Look for a sliming dress (try it in blue) and shop at Goodwill for a pilot’s hat. Sixties-inspired makeup and hair is a must! This costume is pretty simple to put together and can be très chic, yet fun and flirty with the right accessories.

Personally, I am dressing up as Audrey Hepburn circa Breakfast at Tiffany’s for one night and the costume is very simple to modernize while looking classy and sexy. The number one must have is the little black dress. I like this Urban Outfitter’s dress that is a sexier take on Hepburn’s version in the movie. Next, glam up the outfit with gobs of jewelry! This is the one occasion when pearls and diamonds should be paired together in copious amounts, and make sure to finish your cute 60s up-do with a small tiara or jewel.

If you want to go for a more humorous costume idea, try channeling your inner Real Housewives ego. All you need is a glitzy dress, some fake nails, lots of bronzer, and loads of diamonds. I would recommend adding a faux designer bag with a mini pooch, preferably a stuffed animal, to carry around all night.

It is pretty simple to rummage through your own or your friend’s closets for great costumes idea that don’t break the bank. The key is to not go overboard on Halloween in terms of “sexiness” if you will. Sure, have a little fun and be someone else for the night, but still respect yourself and the fashion gods!
