Trends in the entertainment industry are always changing and unpredictable, but throughout the decades of music history one trend seems to never go out of style: bands of brothers. The Jackson 5… The Bee Gees… The Jonas Brothers… and maybe one day we can add this week’s campus celebrity, Michael Linn, to this list as well! Michael Linn, who says his dream would be to play a sold out show with his little brother, has been singing for as long as he can remember. Music is in his genes, as his brothers are very musically talented as well. Lucky for us, Michael has taken his talents to the Madhatters here at Madison, so be sure to check him out at their next show!
When did you first become interested in music?
I was forced into piano lessons, which I am now very grateful for, when I was in the first or second grade. And became more and more involved in music ever since.
*Now, he even has his own recording studio in his basement at home!
How many songs have you written/recorded so far?
It’s hard to say. I started recording music with a rock-band microphone that came with the video game. Since then, I’ve owned a lot of microphones and have recorded a lot of music, mostly covers of songs. I’ve only written a few songs worth hearing.
What other activities have you been interested in besides signing?
I recently became hooked on rock climbing. Who knows how long I’ll stay interested, but at least I’m having fun now.
Tell me about your involvement with Madhatters.
I tried out after meeting a couple of the ‘Hatters at the student org fair. I went on from there to perform for two sold out crowds at the Overture Center as well as for Barack and Michelle Obama at a White House holiday party.
