Campus Catwalk: Matilin Novak
Year: Sophomore
Major: Psychology and Environmental Studies
Campus Involvement: Psychology Club, BWAH, Mind and Body Instructor at the SERF
Favorite study spot: When the weather is crummy I love studying at the Historical Society. When it’s nice out I like to find a table outside on the patio of the Education Building.
Favorite place in Madison: I love running to Picnic Point and admiring the city from a distance
Describe your style:
I like to dress casual and classy with a little bit of Bohemian spice. I have some great pieces my mom saved for me from the 70’s that I like to sport once and a while.
What’s your philosophy when it comes to accessorizing?
Simplicity is beauty, beauty is simplicity; I stick with a few nice pieces that consist of my rings, watch, a necklace (designed by my mom) and some small hoop earrings. These go with almost any outfit so I don’t have to think too hard about accessorizing every morning.
What is one accessory you can’t live without?
Probably my collection of gold rings that I never take off. They go with everything and have sentimental value.
What is something you’d never be caught dead wearing?
Anything that says the brand PINK on it
Top 3 most wanted fashion items:
Oversized sunhat, dressy rompers and a SALT swimsuit
Whose style do you admire and why?
Probably my sister, she’s not afraid to make a statement. She is my go-to girl when I need to put a quick outfit together.
Where are you favorite places to shop?
I love Aritzia, Nordstroms and wherever else I happen to bump into a good deal!
Do you prefer in store or online?
In-store, it’s so hard for me to shop online because I need to try clothes on and love the instant gratification.
How do you approach dressing on the weekdays? Weekends?
Weekdays I like to stick with shorts and a cute and simple top and my hand painted jean jacket. On the weekends I like to dress it up and wear dresses or skirts, sometimes some skinny jeans and heels with a tank.
Celeb wardrobe you’d kill to have?
Probably Babe Walker from White Girl Problems, I’ve never seen it, only read about it and it sounds amazing.
