So, how did you get involved in teaching classes at the SERF and NAT?
During SOAR, I found out about the Group X Fitness classes that were offered and was definitely interested since I knew I would no longer be competing in sports. So, in the fall I took the sample class during the Rec Sports Fitness Frenzy for Welcome Week to determine if I should buy the Group X sticker…and I was hooked! To make a long story short, I bought the sticker and tried out to be an instructor later that fall!

What classes do you teach?
Currently I teach Box Blast, Core Crunch and Group Strength. Although, I have occasionally taught Cardio during my four years here.

What’s your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of the job is that I get to see so many people accomplish their fitness goals. I love choreographing a workout that motivates someone to safely push themselves to do more than what they orignially thought they could. This job is really rewarding in that way…it’s also not bad getting paid to workout!

A lot of people don’t like exercising because they think of it as a chore. How will these classes make them change their mind?
These classes are fun! Each instructor brings their unique experience in a workout on your own. I have to admit the atmosphere is contagious. When your favorite song is blasting in personality and interacts with the class in a way that you can’t, and you are surrounded with 50 people working out right along with you, it’s really hard to not absorb the energy!

When are your classes so people can attend?
I teach Group Strength on Tuesday at 12:05 p.m. at the NAT, Core Crunch on Thursday at 4:15 p.m. at the SERF, and Box Blast on Thursday at 5 p.m. at the SERF.
