9 Ways to Stay Healthy During Midterms

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wisconsin chapter.

Remember those days when one person got sick on your dorm floor, and you knew the next plague was coming? Unfortunately college sickness is something we are probably all too familiar with. Midterms are upon us and that can only mean one thing; the sickness is coming. Here’s how you can beat the bug this midterm season:

1.     Get your holy grail flu shot.

Shout out to UHS for free shots, amiright?

2. Chase your caffeine with water.

Caffeine is vital, but an overload can be detrimental. Utilize your H2O to help ride out your coffee buzz. Ice water with lemon can also be a great way to get extra energy in the morning.

3. Make a smoothie.

Smoothies are an easy way to pack in nutrients and are perfect for on the go. Don’t forget to add your greens!

4. Catch a quick nap.

Just do it. You won’t regret it.

5. Do stress relieving exercises.

Late night yoga at the SERF or a walk out to picnic point can be a simple way to get in exercise. Plus, it can help put your mind at ease (and give you some eye candy at the gym).

And don’t neglect your mental health

6. Journal.

Write down anything and everything you think or feel, even if it isn’t much.

7. Take a stress management class.

UHS is a great resource when you feel like life is out of control. Their stress management classes help you set up a plan to overcome any feat in a healthy way.

8. Stay in for a weekend.

It may be easy to mask your midterm worries with alcohol, but you’ll probably end up even more stressed once the new week comes around. Stay in, cuddle with your roommates, and get some good sleep.

9. Breath.

It’s all going to be alright.

Whether you’re already combating the dreaded cold or you’re stressed out to the max, there are always ways to get through midterms. Don’t fret—they’ll be over soon!
