4 Places to Buy Formal Wear in Madison

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wisconsin chapter.

Being in an area far away from home can make it hard for some of us to shop for dresses. For those of you who are in need of a formal dress but don’t know where to go, here are four places you can buy a beautiful dress for a reasonable price.

1. Windsor

Location(s): West Towne Mall, East Towne Mall

Price: $$

This is one of the best places to get clothes for special events like weddings and formals, since it has the modern looks that we all love. If you can’t make it to the store, you can easily shop online.

2.  Princess of India

Location: 444 State Street

Price: $$

Princess of India has amazing dresses. I was amazed the first time I walked in. They have every dress imaginable — from short and long dresses to homecoming and prom dresses. If you’re looking for a dress that’ll outshine your friends’, you should definitely go there.

3. David’s Bridal

Location: 8118 Mineral Point Rd

Price: $$-$$$

Although this store sells mainly bridal wear, they still have many good options for formal dresses. The dresses are very classy yet comfortable to wear. I can totally see myself wearing these dresses. It can be quite expensie, but they have some good coupons and sales if you order online.

4. Macy’s

Location: Hillsdale Mall

Price: $$

Macy’s has dresses that can match anyone’s style — even the trendiest personalities. If you are looking for formal wear by designers like Calvin Klein, Alex Evenings, Ralph Lauren and Patra, then Macy’s is the right place to shop. These designers add daring details and elegant embellishments to otherwise plain dresses.

These places in Madison all have amazing dresses. I hope, with my help, you’ll be able to find the perfect dress to express you and your personality without breaking the bank!
