4 Netflix Shows You Haven’t Heard Enough About

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wisconsin chapter.

Are you all caught up on the latest shows and looking for the next Netflix hit? Look no further! Not all of these shows are still on air, but they’ve each had their moments. This list includes a historical fiction, an old high school favorite, a family drama and more. Sit back, relax and get ready to find your next favorite show.

1. The Crown

This is probably the most famous show you haven’t heard enough about, and you should totally watch it. If you like Downton Abbey and love keeping up with the British Royal Family, then this is the show for you! Claire Foy is as amazing as Queen Elizabeth II and Matt Smith is as great as Prince Philip. The costumes on The Crown are stunning, and most shots are filmed on location in England. As this show progresses, we’ll look forward to possibly seeing Princess Diana, or maybe even Kate Middleton later on?

2. Freaks and Geeks

This show was made in the ’90s about a high school in the ’80s. Even though it ran for only one season, the cast and story are great. This show stars young James Franco and Busy Philipps, among others, and is a cult classic that will remind you of all your cringe-worthy moments from high school.

3. Parenthood

Parenthood ran from 2010- 2015, but it should be on Netflix from now into the foreseeable future. The Braverman family is a loud, close knit group, and it’s got drama with almost every scene change. Notable actors include Lauren Graham and Dax Shepherd, but the younger actors add a lot to the show as well. If you’re looking to get that familiar family feel from a show with just enough drama to keep you interested, this is a great choice.

4. Girlboss

Girlboss is funny, dramatic, cheesy and very, very real. It follows the story of Sophia Marlowe, founder of Nasty Gal. Sophia is loud and sometimes obnoxious, but she has the confidence to make her dream a reality. Sadly, Girlboss was cancelled after just one season; the series comes to a clean conclusion, though. The best episodes are the first and last ones, which shows Sophia at her most vulnerable and most powerful. While some episodes can trail on, each shot is beautifully colorful with Sophia’s melodramatic boyfriend problems. The cinematography is memorable and definitely adds to the story — quite surprising for a short Netflix show.
