4 Cozy Fall TV Shows to Watch (or Rewatch) This Fall

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wisconsin chapter.

Grab your cuddliest blanket and a mug of warm apple cider, and let’s dive into these fall TV classics

Fall has always been one of my favorite times of the year. There’s nothing like a crisp fall morning, with leaves colored shades of oranges and red, that gets me excited for the day ahead. It’s the season of change, and it sets a tone of new beginnings.

Along with my love for fall, I also love watching TV shows. Cozying up under a thick knitted blanket while burning autumn-scented candles is an immaculate vibe during a cool fall day. Luckily, there is no shortage of fall-themed TV shows to keep the vibes rolling. While fall is a time of new beginnings, I often find myself returning to shows I’ve watched in the past. Here are my top four fall favorites to check out as summer slips away and fall steps in.

1. Gilmore Girls

This one is a no-brainer and probably the first show you thought of when you saw this article. It’s true that the show is nothing new to the fall-themed scene, but it has good reason for being a recurring fall pick.

For those of you unfamiliar with the show, it follows the lives of Rory and Lorelai Gilmore, a mother-daughter duo living in the small town of Stars Hollow. There are a handful of episodes in which Stars Hollow is decked out in fall decorations, and the members of the tight-knit town engage in charming activities. Gilmore Girls will have you wishing you were a member of the town of Stars Hollow, attending the annual Autumn Festival

2. Pretty Little Liars

PLL was the first teenage show I ever watched, and it’s safe to say that I was obsessed with it. Many spin-offs began once the show ended, but none of them top the original. The mysterious theme throughout the show makes it perfect for your fall watchlist.

Pretty Little Liars follows the lives of four friends Aria, Spencer, Hanna and Emily, after their friend Alison goes missing. They begin receiving cryptic messages from the anonymous “A” which leads the girls to believe someone has done something to Alison. The show is filled with secrets, lies and shocking discoveries, making it a fall must-watch.

3. The Vampire Diaries

What could be more fall than a show about vampires, witches, werewolves and several other supernatural creatures? The Vampire Diaries is my all-time favorite, and I find myself coming back to it each fall.

The story follows two vampire brothers, Damon and Stefan Salvatore, who both vie for the affections of human Elena Gilbert. They live in Mystic Falls, a seemingly boring small town that is actually inhabited by numerous supernatural beings. The Vampire Diaries is an alluring delight for fall but be warned: this show will have you canceling plans to binge it all night long.

4. Gossip Girl

Hey Upper East Siders, Gossip Girl will be returning to your TVs this fall! Gossip Girl is a classic, following the scandalous lives of Upper East Side Manhattan teenage elites. There’s always something going on in the lives of Blair, Serena, Chuck, Nate and Dan–and Gossip Girl reports it all.

Fall is the perfect time to get wrapped up in their drama. Gossip Girl is known for its iconic Thanksgiving episodes, filled with scandalous reveals. Who knew so much drama could occur over Thanksgiving dinner?

As the wind becomes crisper and the sunshine plays hide and seek behind the clouds, fall is the best time to start watching– or re-watching –a great show. Whether you’re looking to unwind after a long day of classes, or ready to relax after fall festivities at the pumpkin patch, any one of these shows will have you glued to the couch this fall.
