It’s that time of year again! Christmas lights lining the streets, snow on the sidewalks, snuggling up by the fire with a mug of hot chocolate, presents galore, and what else? Finals. As we sadly gear up for a week’s worth of late nights in the library, we realize how unfair it is we can’t participate in the holiday cheer. But are some silly tests really stopping you? Here are 15 holiday themed ways to procrastinate your studying!
1. Shop online for holiday gifts
Hours spent writing an essay would be much better spent shopping!
2. Take a break and browse Christmas lights
Take a quick study break and drive around with your friends to find the best lit houses.
3. Bake!
We put away the bathing suits long ago, and now it’s time to fill some of that extra space in your sweater. Look up fun recipes online and bake some yummy holiday treats!
4. Decorate the house (or apartment/dorm)
Setting up decorations is sure to put you out of your studying slump!
5. Watch your favorite holiday movies
Cozy up by the TV, and watch some of your favorite classics. Don’t forget the hot cocoa!
6. Go ice-skating
Relieve some stress by getting out on the ice with your friends!
7. Make a gingerbread house
Get your creative juices flowing!
8. Participate in a Secret Santa
Organize a secret Santa with your friends, and get together to exchange gifts!
9. Make your wish list
Coming up with the perfect wish list for holiday gifts takes a lot of time and concentration.
10. Listen to your favorite holiday songs
Take a break and get in a good mood, but be careful they’ll be stuck in your head forever.
11. Figure out your favorite holiday drink
With your late study hours you’ll have plenty of time to try every holiday drink at Starbucks until you find THE ONE.
12. Friendsgiving
Invite friends over for a potluck dinner where everyone provides a yummy dish. Having something to look forward to will make studying much easier.
There are so many things to look forward to and help distract you from your studying to make finals a little bit more bearable. Just because we all have tests doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy the holidays this year!
