10 Ways to Look Less Like a Freshman on Campus

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wisconsin chapter.

Every year as the excited wave of freshmen move into the dorms, it becomes easy to spot the newbies based on some of their actions.  If you are afraid of sticking out or  the thought of people yelling “FRESHMAN” at you on the streets makes you want to die a little inside, there are a few things you can do to avoid looking and feeling out of place as you begin your college life.

1. Don’t wear a lanyard with your keys around your neck.

2. Stop traveling in large packs that include everyone on your floor and their high school acquaintances.

3. Don’t be afraid to eat alone once in a while even though you love your new squad.

4. Search out your class locations before the first day.

5. Don’t make your friends on the way to class your first day.

6. Hold it together after you’ve had more than a few sips of your mixed drink.

7. Don’t dress up for class everyday unless you always follow the motto, “Look Good, Feel Good.”

8. Wear that school pride whenever you can.

9. Walk on the right side of the street.

10. Don’t wear your high school sports and clubs t-shirts.

If you do these things you might just be able to slip through unnoticed, but hey if someone calls you a freshman its only because they wish they could relive their college years. Freshman year is one of the best so enjoy it!
