Winter Break, As Told By Stranger Things

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Winthrop chapter.

It is the break collegiettes have been waiting for all semester. A break from schoolwork at least until Spring Semester. The long-lost Winter Break. It’s been awhile since we’ve experienced taking an actual break, so here is some guidance from the characters of Stranger Things.

1. Realizing you have no more assignments for a few solid weeks!

The best part about Winter Break is that you get a break from classes. It’s not like the short weekend holidays in the Fall semester where you have assignments to take care of while trying to relax. This is a full break of relaxing, hanging out with friends and family, and binge watching your favorite shows. What could be better?

2. There is fully stocked refrigerator at home and you can eat whatever you want.

Food. So much food. The only thing better than that? All the holiday food you know you’re gonna get. Leftovers, here I come!

3. You could stay on the couch for hours and never have to get up.

Staying warm and cozy and not having to do anything is a dream. What are responsibilities?

4. Unless you have a job while you’re home, then you really have to get up.

Some people have to work over break (girls gotta make that money!), but that unfortunately means having to leave our cozy beds. No thanks.

5. Seeing people from home

This could be a good or bad thing, depending on who you are. Most times it feels like a negative, but that may just be my social anxiety talking.

6. Realizing you have nothing to do with yourself on break and low-key begin to miss school…

After being home for a while, you start to realize you need a change. You actually find yourself wanting to go back to school! Maybe that’s because your friends and social life are there…

7. You have to start preparing for the Spring semester

Towards the end you finally have to accept that another semester has come and you must go back to get your degree. What a bummer.

Collegiettes, enjoy your break while it lasts!
