Do you crave chocolate all the time? Do you dream about decadent desserts that are almost too pretty to eat? Well we students here at Winthrop only have a slim selection of dessert locations nearby. On the corner of E. Trade Street in Charlotte, Bar Cocoa is just the place to quench those desires.
Upon entering, the lighting is dim and romantic. Then, staring right at you in cases under lights are the desserts. Whether it be the gelato, a limitless selection of macaroons, puddings, cupcakes, coffee or chocolates too pretty to be true, you are bound to find something you’ll be dying to try. Then, after you get your food, you can sit in little booths by the windows, or in chairs by the fireplaces and enjoy socializing with your friends, and people watching.
This week, my friend and I ventured our way here and were more than pleased. After we walked through the spinny door we saw the cases full of desserts, and knew that it could be nothing but delicious. Due to all the options, it took a while to finally decide what to get. Finally, out of the wide assortment of macaroons we each chose one, Nutella and Dolce de Leche. On top of that, we both got some gelato, coffee and peanut butter chocolate chip cookie. Literally, it was some of the best desserts I had ever had. The macaroons were rich, and the gelato just melted in our mouths. The last bite was terrible, because it meant it was all gone.
Whether it be a date with your boyfriend, or a night with the girls, Bar Cocoa is the perfect location to stop for dessert. And it is only 25 minutes away from Winthrop! I would definitely recommend going there, and cannot wait to make another trip back. Who knows what I’ll get next time? Needless to say, I am totally and completely in love with Bar Cocoa.
