This week in pop culture was one full of babies, weddings, music, and more. Check out the top 10 events from this exciting week in pop culture.

1. Rihanna released her new album

Rihanna’s long anticipated eighth album Anti was accidentally released on January 28, 2016. So far, this album gets mixed reviews. An article on thedailybeast.com says that there are no hits and that the album is “anticlimactic”. The album shows her artistry but it doesn’t really showcase her voice. Other people think that this is her best album yet.  An article from vox.com says that this album is “steady with the confidence of someone who knows exactly what she wants to say”. 

2. Tyra Banks welcomed a baby with her boyfriend Erik Asla

Who knew Tyra was going to be a mom? Turns out not even her co-stars knew. Tyra and Asla welcomed baby boy York via gestational surrogate on January 27, 2016. Banks opened up about her fertility issues and told People Magazine that when she turned 40, her biggest regret was not having children. Little York is a miracle baby for the excited new parents. Congrats Tyra!!

3. Ellen celebrated her birthday

January 26, 2016 was a special day for Ellen. She turned 58!! The People’s Choice Humanitarian Award winner celebrated her birthday on her January 28, 2016 show with Channing Tatum and Troye Sivan. If you ask me, Ellen doesn’t look a day over 40. Happy birthday Ellen and congratulations on your new puppy Kidd!!!

4. Emily Blunt and John Krasinski are expecting baby no. 2

The Office alum and wife announced earlier this week that their second child is on the way. Blunt and Krasinski will celebrate their sixth wedding anniversary this summer. They welcomed a baby girl in February 2014. According to an article about celebrity babies on people.com, Krasinski is looking forward to being a family of four.  

5. Bachelor in Paradise stars Jade and Tanner tied the knot

Jade Roper and Tanner Tolbert got married January 24 in Dana Point, California. Former Bachelor and Bachelorette stars attending including the current Bachelor Ben Higgins. The ceremony was filmed and will be aired on a bachelor anniversary special on Valentine’s Day. The bride was glowing in a beautiful spaghetti strap V-neck gown.  Congrats to the happy couple!

6. Louis Tomlinson shares photo of his newborn son

The One Direction swooner took to instagram January 27 to share a pic of his adorable baby boy Freddie. Tomlinson welcomed baby Freddie on January 21, 2016 with his former fling Briana Jugworth.  Jugworth also posted a picture of the newborn with his full name, Freddie Reign. Congrats Louis and Briana!

7. One Direction History music video

1D fans went straight to the internet on January 27 when the band released their video for their song History off of their final album Made in the a.m. The band has decided to take a hiatus after five nonstop years of albums, tours, and everything in between. The video is a tearjerker for all of the diehard 1D fans showing bits and pieces of their journey the past five years.

8. Barbie is getting a makeover

As of January 28 Barbie will now be more like the rest of us. Mattel announced that they will start making dolls in three new body types with different skin tones and hair styles as well. According to an article on USA Today, Mattel has been trying to change Barbie’s figure for two years now to “bring the doll in line with realistic body standards and reflect the diversity of the kids playing with the dolls”. Some of the new dolls with are tall, petite, curvy, African American, Asian, White, blonde, redhead, brunette, etc. It looks like a great change for the iconic brand.

9. Leonardo DiCaprio meets the Pope

DiCaprio was at the Vatican on January 28 and greeted the Pope in Italian saying “You Holiness, thank you for granting me this private audience with you”. He then kissed the pope’s ring. An article on ABC news said that DiCaprio gave Pope Francis a book of art and explained what the book meant to him. The incredible quote said, “As a child I didn’t quite understand what it all meant, but through my child’s eyes it represented a planet, the utopia we had been given, the overpopulation, excesses, and the third panel we see a blackened sky that represents so much to me of what’s going on in the environment,” DiCaprio said. Well- spoken Leo.

10. Grease: Live airs Sunday Jan. 31 

Julianne Hough and Aaron Tveit star as Sandy and Danny in the live version of Grease airing at 7 p.m. January 31. Grease fans everywhere are eager for the classic movie to come back to life as Sandy, Danny, and the rest of the gang walk the halls their senior year at Rydell High. An article from ew.com says that Grease:Live will be different from the original movie. Tveit said that they aren’t using cigarettes for one. How will Sandy make her bad girl entrance? We’ll just have to find out on Sunday.
