September is almost over… which means it’s officially fall! ‘Tis the season for apple picking,
fairs, and a new wardrobe. If you’re anything like me, you already have $200 worth of clothes
sitting in Amazon right now. Here are a few things you should add to your closet to stick to
the Soft Girl Autumn aesthetic, but first…

WHAT IS A SOFT GIRL?

As defined by Urban Dictionary, a soft girl is the “…type of person who wears girly, pastel
clothing with cute hair styles.”. This type of aesthetic was a huge trend in summer and is for
sure to stick into the next season. So, how can you achieve this look without pastels?

Neutrals

When deciding what color top or bottoms to buy, sticking to a beige, light gray or brown, will
work best. Not sure what clothing items to purchase? Here are 7 things to be sure to add to
your cart:

BOLEROS

Boleros are short and fitted cardigans that only cover the arms and shoulders. These can
already be seen used on Instagram paired with the cutest dresses. It makes layering so simple
yet cute – which is so on brand for the aesthetic.

BOOTCUT JEANS

Bootcut jeans are a must for the season because of its style flexibility. You can go casual with
a t-shirt or dress it up with a pair of pumps. Bootcut jeans are also so much more comfy than
you’re average skinny jeans. Also, coming from a plus-size girl, they are very flattering on all
body types!

BUTTON UP SWEATERS

What’s autumn without layers? Aside from your usual flannel, these can bring depth to an
outfit and can be the perfect casual outfit for class or a grocery run. My personal suggestion
would be to get an oversized sweater for those comfy days.

KNIT SETS

Alexa play COZY by Beyonce… do I need to say anything else? These sets will help you stay
warm and look so cute without even trying. When you don’t know what to wear, you can fall
back on these sets and already have the look.

LEATHER JACKETS

Every girl needs some edge and what’s some edge without leather? Leather jackets have been
around for a while, but it is predicted that this Fall will bring head-to-toe leather looks –
shoutout to them, because I could never! Leather jackets are a good way to get out of your
comfort zone, and explore new trends. Perfect for late fall days where the temperatures start
dropping.

LOAFERS

It’s closed-toe shoe season, and to me loafers scream “classy & put together” – tell me that’s
not on brand. They are so versatile and can be paired with skirts, trousers, even
jeans.Although boots are timeless, black loafers will definitely be a staple for Fall 2022.

PLEATED SKIRTS

Say goodbye to flower-printed skirts (for now), pleated skirts are taking over Pinterest. These
are the perfect go-tos for a more dressed up occasion. Pair it with tights and boots, or if
you’re into skirts with length, sneakers and your favorite sweater would look fab!
