Single People Can Still Love Valentine’s Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Winthrop chapter.

Look, I understand. It sucks to be single on Valentine’s Day. It feels like Christmas and you’re the only one sitting under the tree without a present while others are shoving there’s in your faces.

But believe it or not, you can still enjoy Valentine’s Day if you’re single!

I know. You’re probably thinking, “This girl is crazy or she in a relationship, and she just saying this, she doesn’t actually understand how I am feeling.” I would love to clarify, yes I am a bit crazy, but not about this.

Also, I will proudly be on the single boat on Valentine’s Day, and I am still going to enjoy my day.You do not need to be in a relationship to feel love, and give love back to others. What about your friends, your family, your dog, or crazy thought, even yourself?

Treat yourself this Valentine’s Day!

Of course, I get it, it’s sweet when someone buys you chocolates in a cute red heart, or some roses. However, that does not equal love and you do not need that to feel content in life.

You also have your friends.

Grab a buddy and go get some ice cream, watch a movie, and if you want, go to dinner! My favorite Valentine’s Day memory was going to a pizzeria with a group of ten girls, and we just enjoyed each others company. We did not dwell on the day, we enjoyed it. We had people that loved us and isn’t that the point of the day?

Valentine’s Day is centered on love.

Love doesn’t just come from a romantic relationship. So, chin up, and stop dwelling on Valentine’s Day! You’re already with the person that supposed to love you the most at the end of the day. You!
