Being a freshman in college, being a college student, is a task that is very challenging on the mental. Your body is getting used to a new environment, you’re in a different environment in a different area, some even from a whole ‘nother’ state. Although college is a great accomplishment, it can take a toll on your mental health as you now must create a schedule where you can accommodate doing your class work, attending class, as well as making time for yourself. Honestly, that can be very hard to do and it may seem as though college is more important than self care. Some of the smaller things that I do that help me stay grounded are taking a nap, watching my favorite youtuber, eating a snack, and even taking a shower. It’s something about piping hot water that just does it for me.
Though, the main thing that I always find myself doing in a time of need and wanting to destress, is listening to music. I always have to have my playlist playing when I’m walking to class, in the car, even when I’m in the store sometimes, due to my anxiety, I’ll have to have one ear with an earphone in at least playing some type of music.
