Dear Big,

As recruitment is quickly approaching, I can’t help but think of my own recruitment experience just months ago. When thinking back on my choice to run home, I can’t help but think of my immediate connection with you. You made me feel immediately comfortable, appreciated, and loved. My nervousness about going through recruitment seemed to melt away with every easy minute I spent with you. First of all, you seemed way too cool and collected to ever want to be friends with ME! But, I am extremely happy that immediate love for you was returned.

I’ve told you numerous times how much you mean to me, but my relationship with you has been on my mind as my excitement for recruitment grows. The fact that soon many new women will be finding relationships as loving as ours in just a matter of days makes my heart happy.

Going Greek has been one of the best decisions of my life for many reasons; amazing new sisters, life long bonds, rewarding experiences, philanthropy… the list goes on for days. But running home to you has been my shining moment in my journey so far.

As an oldest child, I never had a sibling to look up to growing up. I was the older sister, and was expected to be a role model for my younger brother and sister. I never knew that I did in fact need an older sister figure/ mentor until coming to college. Of course the trials and stresses of your first year of college will bring a person down sometimes, but the whole year was especially tough for me. I felt out of place, unwanted at times, and all around lost both academically and emotionally. My choice to go Greek my sophomore year has all around improved my attitude about going to school, and you were my biggest factor in the final decision to run home. You support my academics, make me feel wanted and included, and you make sure that I always have a place. You welcomed me into our perfect family tree with open arms, and you and my Grand have made me feel as if I truly belong.

My relationship with you has taught me many things; balance, strength, leadership skills, and how to recognize my potential. You have been my cheerleader, shoulder to cry on, support system, fellow gif-sender and co “No Hands” rapper, Cookout date, nap buddy, and best friend. I appreciate all you have done for me, and cannot wait to carry this relationship through our lives.

I am beyond excited for many new women to run home to their future Bigs this week like I did a few months ago. They have a wonderful ride in store.

Love always,

Your Little
