Olivia Rodrigo and Her Journey This Far

Olivia Rodrigo started as the girl who played a blogger on the show Bizardvark and now she is a hit song writer and is about to go on a tour to promote her album Sour. But it took some time for her to get to this point and her journey is explained throughout the film that can now be streamed on Disney+ called “Driving Home 2 U”. During the course of 2021, the music industry got a new queen of pop, Olivia Rodrigo when she released a song that turned into an anthem called “Drivers License”. One of the fun facts that the musician shares in the documentary is that she released the song “Drivers License” after she had passed her driving test, so besides being an anthem the song also means something personal to the singer. The song went on to get noticed by SNL and various other outlets that causing the song to move up the charts. Earlier this year it was announced that she would go on to be nominated for and win a American Music Award, 3 Apple Music Awards, An award from Billboard for Women of the Year as well as other awards. So things are currently looking up for the artist.

Teens and young women across the world relate to the heartbreak that Olivia explains in her song. They find an outlet, a person who is saying the things that they didn’t know how to say themselves. Because of the success of the song “Drivers License” and of her debut album “Sour”. Disney+ set forth to make a documentary on the journey of making the album and what its meaning has towards the artist.

In the film, Olivia Rodrigo explains that she wrote this album as she was traveling back and forth from L.A to Salt lake city the location of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. Her character Nini (Nina) Salazar Roberts is a recurring character. The film shows the places in which she wrote the songs and the meanings behind these places as well as what they mean to her and her history with them in passing. The singer has also been noticed by her idol Taylor Swift as well as other singers and artists that she looks up to. Not only was she noticed by her idol but she also got a chance to preform on various talk shows as well as SNL. One of the scenes in the Driving Home 2 U film has Olivia freaking out over her song being played on the radio for the first time. Just by her reaction in the video you can tell it was a big moment for the artist and probably one that she will never forget.

Over the course of 2021 once her album was released Olivia Rodrigo hosted a Sour Prom for teen fans in the L.A. area to get together and hangout with the singer as well as have their own Prom. For some the days during the heightened days of Covid-19 canceled the memorable moments in ones final goodbye from high school. Since. Olivia did that for her fans it shows that she is able to be open and honest with her fan base and is not afraid to go out and meet a few fans now and again. The success of Olivia Rodrigo just goes to show people the power of words and if used in the right way they can have a meaningful impact as well as inspire others to show themselves by using words in a creative way as well.
