What made you want to participate in Big Man on Campus?I participated in it last year and it was really enjoyable so I wanted to participate again because it was such a fun experience.

How did you come up with your talent?I worked at Camp Spearhead last summer and the song I signed, The World’s Greatest, was sung a lot at the camp. It symbolized that our campers were the world’s greatest so it meant a lot to me.

What was your favorite part of the competition? The dance was probably my favorite part because it was a lot of fun to learn.

What was the most difficult part of the competition? My talent was the most difficult just because I was caught up in making sure that I didn’t mess up and I wanted the microphone to work.(There were technical difficulties for the first few contestants’ talents.)

Did you have an inspiration for competing?I didn’t really have an inspiration for doing the show but my little brother was my inspiration for the song. They played it at his memorial at the camp that he worked at so singing that song had a double meaning for me.

Who do you think was your biggest competition?I didn’t think I was going to win so I don’t think I really had a biggest competitor. Everybody did a really great job.

How does it feel to be the Big Man on Campus? When I won, I was shocked and couldn’t believe that I actually did win. I’m still surprised but it’s an honor to have this title.

What did you win?A free skydiving trip! (Thanks to the Skydiving club!)

What will you remember most about the Big Man competition?I’ve had a lot of people come up to me crying, good tears, telling me that my talent touched them. It really stood out to me.

What do you want to do as Big Man on Campus for the next year?I know that more people will be watching me now so I want to continue to be an inspiration on campus through all of the organizations that I’m involved in.

What advice do you have for anyone who wants to participate in Big Man in the future? If it is something that you are even thinking about doing, figure out what you need to do and do it because it is such a rewarding experience.
