It is important that young women maintain their body, skin, hair and keep themselves up on a daily basis because we all have to look our best! Women who keep themselves glamourous are typically more confident, happier and treat other women with kindness and respect. With different body types, pigment of the skin and different features, it is important that each woman should try many products until they find a consistent brand that will satisfy their skin. We were fortunate enough to speak with Megan Cummins, online/print journalism from Elon University, about her daily routine and she shared some beauty tips that she recommends to other young women.

“In regards to makeup, I use the basics,” Cummins said. “Liquid mineral foundation, cream eyeliner, volumizing and lengthening mascara, cream concealer, and contouring powders. When I wash my hair I use a keratin shampoo and then a three minute strengthening conditioner. When I heat style, I always use a protecting spray. I also use a facial oil as a moisturizer, I found that it keeps my skin from flaking better than creams.

My foundation is Bareminerals‘s areskin pure brightening serum foundation broad spectrum spf 20, but I use fresh seaberry moisturizing face oil as moisturizer and Aveeno‘s clear complexion bb cream as a primer before applying the foundation.

In regards to eyeliner I use CoverGirl‘s perfect point plus eyeliner in black onyx and Clinique‘s high lengths mascara, then I top it with CoverGirl’s Lashblast fushion in black.

For concealer I use Boi-ing concealer by Benefit Cosmetics and when I contour I use Smashbox‘s Step-by-step contour stick trio blended with the beautyblender sponge.

As for hair, I use Aussie‘s 3-minute miracle strong deep conditioning treatment and Pantene‘s heat protecting spray

“Many of these products became staples after pure-trial-and-error while others were discovered by reviews in magazines or at beauty stores like Sephora. Some products I have been using for years, such as the eyeliner mascaras and concealer, while others such as the foundation and contouring sticks are more recent discoveries,” Cummins said.

When discussing the topic about her daily routine changing since living abroad she said:

“Honestly, my routine hasn’t changed all that much since coming to Ireland. I definitely don’t wear makeup or do my hair everyday, but I wouldn’t necessarily attribute that to being abroad.”

Megan says she doesn’t follow any blogs however she does visit a range of websites.

“I don’t follow any blogs or vlogs religiously,” said Cummins. “I occasionally check sites such as Style caster, glitter guide, refinery 29, and Lauren Conrad. Since trends change so often, I would just say don’t be afraid to try new things. I was totally confused and intimidated by contouring at first, but after a few trials I found how to make it work for me and now absolutely love it.”

We hope these tips helped all you collegiettes!
