Artist Spotlight: James Blake Ends His Radio Silence

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Winthrop chapter.

Hailing from the UK, singer/songwriter/producer James Blake is hardly new to the music scene.

His debut, self-titled album came out in 2009, and sophomore album Overgrown came out in 2013. But with third album Radio Silence on the way this year, now is the time to get Blake on your radar.

Blake’s eclectic mixture of electronic and house music has made him a favorite of Kanye West, who is rumored to be featured on his upcoming album.

His music sounds like driving through an abandoned town at night, lit by only your headlights and the orange glow of street lamps.  His voice is like a post-apocalyptic Sam Smith’s, and when I played his music for a friend of mine, she promptly asked if he was a witch. With Overgrown, Blake crafts a wonderful album for nighttime atmosphere.
