If you are a person that’s too nice, even when you shouldn’t be, it’s probably becoming a burden for you.

If that’s you, you should be able to relate to these 5 signs! But don’t worry, there are also some tips to get out of it!

1. Some of your friends only reach out to you when they are having a major life crisis and they need a “friend”.

“Oh no, you and I-don’t-want-to-put-a-label-on-it-boy number 5 are having a fight? Of course, we can hang out tonight, I’ll cancel my plan with my legit boyfriend.” This person wants to hang out with you for one reason and one reason only; to vent about their awful new fling. Do they ever text you when they’re in a good place? No. Do you always drop your plans and bend to their will when they text you? …yes.

2. Your ex(es) who dumped you on a whim came back saying “I made a mistake, you were so good to me”.

Yeah, duh, you were good to him, it’s because you’re so nice! And if you are a desperate case of “too nice”, you’ll probably take him back once. Or…. maybe twice. Three times max!

3. Even for the worst favors, you literally can’t say no.

Of course, I’ll give you a ride at 11 to the airport even though we literally talked 3 times this year! Oh, yeah, totally, I’ll babysit your vicious dog that has bitten 3 of your friends and eats furniture for an afternoon snack. No, don’t even worry about it! I’m just so nice!

4. When you need something, you’re too afraid to ask, because that would be kind of rude.

Moving? You don’t need help for that! Party planning? You can do it yourself! You would rather die than inconvenience someone else by asking for help.

5. Your best friend tells you you’re too nice!

Listen, if your BFF is telling you you have a problem, then YOU HAVE A PROBLEM. This is a low-key intervention, and you know it. She has all the truths. Stop being so nice!

Now is time to turn your life around a little bit!

While being a nice person is really great and proof of a good heart, you know you have to stand your ground a little. So, how do you stop being too nice? It’s so simple. Take 1% of all the dumb excuses, mean comments, and impudent requests that you’ve gotten in the last few years, and stir a little bit of that in your coffee every morning. Take them in, and never do them again!

Stand your ground, Collegiettes.  You’ve got this! Make your campus, YOUR campus now! You can find other tips here!
