While this is mainly relatable to people from Middle-Eastern, South Asian, and some African/European countries, I’ve experienced that if anyone that looks even slightly foreign, they can get these types of comments and questions all the time. Power to all of my fellow foreign females!
Here are the 14 things that foreign girls hear all the time!
1. “What are you?”
2. Terrorist jokes.
3. “What do you worship? The Sun Gods?”
4. “Do you eat meat?”
5. “I’m sure you love hummus and curry.”
6. “Do you have to have an arranged marriage?”
7. “Why don’t you wear that scarf thing?”
8. “Do you speak Arab? Or Hindu? Or maybe Egyptian?”
9. “Do your parents have an accent?”
10. “But then how do you not have an accent?”
11. “Do you ever wear those weird sparkly outfits?”
12. “Can you belly dance?”
13. “You’re only allowed to date your own kind right?”
14. “But you don’t eat pork right?”
Moral of the story, there are tons of misconceptions of different religions, cultures, and races. Foreign ladies, it’s your job to educate the ignorant and dramatically fly away on your own magic carpets ;)
