For something college students do so much, writing doesn’t seem to get much easier. Of course, writing can be incredibly satisfying–but it comes with a set of struggles unlike nothing else. Whether your writing is done for class, a student publication, or just for fun, just remember, Collegiettes: you aren’t alone. Every writer understands these struggles!

1. When you’re tired of using the same word over and over, but the connotations for its synonyms are just wrong.

2. When you can’t write with silence, but no song is the right song to get you in the mood.

3. Inspiration striking at the most ungodly hours – and, as a result, consuming way too much coffee and tea.

4. “What are you writing?”

5. Having the best idea ever, but thinking, “Oh, I’ll remember it later,” and not writing it down…and then forgetting it.

6. Even worse: having the best idea, remembering it, but not being able to find the right words to write it.

7. Sitting down to write and suddenly remembering the three tests, four meetings and six unreturned e-mails waiting for your attention.

8. Committing yourself to too many other writing projects.

9. Having an incredibly varied (and sometimes questionable) Google search history.

10. Telling your friends about your project, working on it for ages, but when they ask to see it all you have is this:

Happy writing, Collegiettes!
