You Wouldn’t Wear That In Winona

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Winona chapter.

Don’t be shy when someone approaches you with their phone asking to take a picture of your outfit, be flattered! A new group of ladies on campus are scoping out the cutest outfits and posting them to social media!

WhatRUWearing is an online blog that talks about every day fashion. What are you wearing to class? To work? On Friday night? The blog focuses on what women are wearing and Winona State now has it’s own WhatRUWearing ambassadors on campus! Kaitlyn O’Neill, a HCW Campus Celeb, is onto her next project and she is bringing fashion to the forefront in Winona. The ambassadors have created their own Winona specific WhatRUWearing Instagram featuring YOU and your cute clothes!

Currently, WhatRUWearing has recruited ambassadors and will be looking for more next fall.  “They will have PR/Marketing Ambassadors and Editorial Interns,” says Kaitlyn, “Editorial interns will focus more on blogging and writing, and PR/Marketing Ambassadors will focus more on social media and events.”

Ambassadors must have a clear passion for fashion. No matter your personal style, they just have to be able to rock it and be confident.

WhatRUWearing is hosting an event in Winona that is open to all fashionistas! The event, “You Wouldn’t Wear That In Winona” is a chance to pull out your sassiest lipstick and plunging v-necks for a night of fashion!

“In Winona, I feel as if people, more specifically women, get a bit bashful when it comes to being fashionable.” Says Kaitlyn. “Our community here is very humble and with that brings humble attire. This night is to empower us Winona-women to wear whatever the heck we want! I know I have a few items in my closet that I wouldn’t dare wear in good ole’ Winona, but hey, now I have a night to do so and so does everyone else.”

The event will be this Thursday, April 23rd starting at 7pm. The basement of Bub’s has been rented for the party and there will be free appetizers and non-alcoholic beverages, with the option to purchase full meals and adult beverages. The social mixer event will also have photographers to capture the night’s fashionistas to cover the WhatRUWearing social media in Winona’s finest.

Come for a night of fashion and fun! What better to do on a Thursday night than to get dressed up with your friends! Wear whatever makes you feel fabulous, whether it’s that dress in your closet that is just too good for the Winona bars, your new spring romper, or even your best sweats if that’s what makes you feel sexy.

As for Kaitlyn, she has yet to decide what her look will be for the night. “I don’t know if I want to go full blown J-LO and whip out my gold hoops and be super glam, or if I want to be a little more boho and wear a super cute maxi dress. It’ll be a game time decision…”
