What’s In Your Skin – An Introduction to Arbonne

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Winona chapter.

Pure, safe, beneficial: three words that come to mind when using Arbonne’s beauty products.  This phrase also happens to be the company’s slogan, representing a beautifully complex combination of science and nature behind the company’s products, providing the most natural ingredients to yield the most visible results.  Although many people may consider what types of food they put in their body, few people think about their skincare, lotions or makeup.

According to Kylie Feltes, an Arbonne consultant and senior at Minnesota State University Mankato, any product put on your skin will be absorbed in 26 seconds or less.  This means your skin absorbs all of the good and bad ingredients in your beauty products.  Simply starting to read the labels on your beauty products can help you start to recognize the ingredients, as well as what you should stray away from.  One of the biggest fillers in generic brand lotions and makeup is Mineral Oil.  This is commonly used as a substitute for higher quality ingredients and has been shown to increase signs of aging skin.  Feltes recommends that even though these lotions may be cheaper, in the long run they could really damage your skin, and you should stay away from anything with Mineral Oil on the label as much as your budget allows.

Even though these products may be expensive, there are definitely loopholes to jump through to get discounts and specials.  Arbonne does parties, similar to Pure Romance or Chloe & Isabel, where consultants come to a host’s house and provide product samples and catalogues to order from for a group of people.  I have been to one and also hosted one myself, and I can say I would go to another one soon!  No party leaves you feeling more refreshed or beautiful than Arbonne, and I have had so much fun trying my new products.  My favorite of all of them is the Awaken Sea Salt Scrub.  Fresh citrus scents engulf your shower when you open this container; even my roommates say the house smells great afterward. This scrub can be used from the neck down, and is a wonder for the legs and hands! I use it in the shower to exfoliate before shaving and on my hands when they’re feeling dry and rough.  Nothing else smells as good as this stuff while making you feel just as great!

Another fail-proof product from Arbonne is the Makeup Primer.  Katie Schlaikowski, Co-Campus Correspondent for Winona State’s Her Campus chapter can attest to its widely known success.

“I am an avid customer of Bare Minerals, so most of my makeup is powered foundation and because of that I’ve found it falls off my face very easily in the colder months. Since we live in Minnesota, my skin is dry more often than not. I’ve only had my primer for a little while and I already love it. There is no better way to describe it than the word “cloudy.” When I first pumped it onto my finger I thought it was similar to a moisturizer, but as soon as I applied it on my face it was incredibly light and thin. It soaks into my skin without drying it out or making my face feel tight. And the best part– my makeup stays on so much longer than it did previously. You definitely get your bang for your buck, it’s fabulous!”

As many Arbonne-addicts will tell you, it’s worth it to invest in beauty products that never skimp on quality, will last for a long time, and never put harmful chemicals into your body.   Here are some more testimonials from WSU students who loved their products:

Her Campus Contributor Courtney Jones:“I purchased the Arbonne Got you Covered Mineral Powder Foundation and the Mineral Powder Foundation Brush. After using these products a handful of times, I can already say I will never go back to my old mineral powder ever again. I love how the powder gives my skin an “airbrushed” look! The brush is so soft and feels amazing on my face. I am always hesitant trying out different face makeups because my skin gets irritated very easily, and I end up with a terrible breakout. With Arbonne’s product, I have not broken out once and my skin doesn’t even feel like I have anything on! I would highly recommend this makeup and brush to anyone!”

Co-Campus Correspondent Miranda Soukup:“I absolutely love the Calm Face Wash & Moisturizer. It feels great to get all the makeup, oil, and stress of the day off my face, and to know that Arbonne products are safe and healthy for your skin.”
