There are two kinds of Pinteresters in this world, those who pin, and those who do. We want to help you go from do it yourself, to did it myself! Thrifty Thursdays will give you inspiration, and more importantly, direction on how to take your room from drab to fab.

Twinkle Light HeadboardSkill level: ModerateMaterials: Sheer curtains $7.99/set                  String lights $1.50/box                 Double curtain rod $10

Setting the mood never felt so right! And no, we’re not talking about THAT mood. Adding a twinkle light headboard to your room will add a calm ambiance to your room that you can enjoy after a hectic day of angry professors, being stuck behind a train, and consuming way too much caffeine.

The most difficult part of this project is finding your lights. Chances are, if it’s not the Christmas season, it will be difficult to find the lights that you’re going to need for this project. Starting to plan ahead for this one will save you time and money because once the Christmas season passes, all the lights are marked down to super low prices. As low as in $1.50 per box. You want to make sure you find the lights with white wire, and not green. In this image, 8 strings of lights were used and 4 sheer curtains were hung. Both sets can be arranged differently, depending on how many lights you want and how bunchy you want your curtains to appear.

Once you’ve gathered your materials, it’s smooth sailing. First, hang the inner curtain rod and begin to wrap your lights around it. I made mine reach from the curtain rod to the floor, but it could also end where your headboard begins. Tip for keeping your strings from tangling: use masking tape to adhere the light string to the wall at the bottom. It will be hidden by your bed and keep your lights in straight lines.

After all of your lights are hung, attach your second curtain rod over the top of the lights and hang the curtains! This look will surely give your room a warm feel and offer a place of comfort after a long day.
