It’s getting to be that time of the year–finals are closing in, the weather is starting that transition toward the bleak and gloomy winter blues, and your motivation has hit an all-time low. So, in an effort to help inspire and re-energize you, I’ve pulled together my top ten favorite inspirational quotes of all time.

10. “I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles.” – Audrey Hepburn

I love this quote; it’s light-hearted yet inspiring at the same time.

9. “The most effective way to do it, is to do it.” – Amelia Earhart

Truer words have never been spoken.

8. Only I can change my life. No one can do it for me.” – Carol Burnett

It can be so easy to blame other people or your environment for why you are or aren’t doing something. But, as Carol Burnett reminds us, you are the only person who can control what you do. Of course, this doesn’t have to be a negative thing. You have the ability to do remarkable things, and I think the next quote explains that much more eloquently than I ever could.

7. “‘You could rattle the stars,’ she whispered. ‘You could do anything, if you only dared.’” – Sarah J. Maas, Throne of Glass

The scariest part of doing something new, in my opinion, is starting. Once you get going, though, you can amaze even yourself.

6. “I was always looking outside myself for strength and confidence, but it comes from within. It is there all of the time.” – Anna Freud

I am definitely guilty of trying to draw my strength from the people around me, but this quote reminds me to look inside for everything I need.

5. “The most important thing is to enjoy your life – to be happy – it’s all that matters.” – Audrey Hepburn

Once again, Audrey Hepburn inspires with her simple yet beautiful life philosophies.

4. “Life is short, and it is here to be lived.” – Kate Winslet

Seems easy enough, right? Sometimes all it takes to put everything in perspective is a little straight-forward advice.

3. “Happiness is a choice. You can choose to be happy. There’s going to be stress in life, but it’s your choice whether you let it affect you or not.” – Valerie Bertinelli

This resonates with quote number eight; how you choose to react to certain situations defines who you are, and that is something that you have sole control over. No one can make you say or feel anything that you don’t want to say or feel.

2. “You have to accept whatever comes and the only important thing is that you meet it with courage and with the best that you have to give.” – Eleanor Roosevelt

If you can do that, then you’ve already overcome the challenge.

1. “My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.” – Maya Angelou

This is my number one quote because it leaves me feeling inspired and with a smile on my face. So as you’re studying for finals and preparing for the long-awaited winter break, keep these quotes in mind for when you’re losing the motivation needed to see the semester through!
