The bluffs, the lake, the football field, and downtown Winona are all common images among WSU students’ instagram photos, but one student has captured Winona through his lens like you’ve never seen before. A California born marketing and spanish major, Jesus Cazares is setting bars for himself everyday. You can find him working in the athletic department or taking photos for The Winonan. When he’s not working or snapping photos you can spot #34 on the Warriors baseball team!
What made you get into photography?I think moving from California to Wisconsin was what got me interested in photography. Pretty much to show my family and friends the many cultural differences between the midwest and the west coast.
Who or what is your inspiration for your photos?I love learning, trying, and engaging in new things. I learn by seeing what other people do, whether it’s through Instagram, Facebook, YouTube or any other form of social media. Everyone has a different way of seeing things.
What is your favorite thing to shoot?My favorite genres of photography to shoot are portrait, landscape and candid photography.
Would you like to make photography a long-term career or just a hobby?As of now, I am thinking of keeping photography as a hobby and hopefully later in life I can find a successful job in which I can implement it into.
What is your favorite device to shoot photography?My favorite device for capturing photos would be my Canon T3i dslr camera, although most of the photos on my Instagram were taken with my smartphone.
What are your future goals in school or photography?My future goals with school are to have fun, meet new people, graduate, and find a successful career that can hopefully bring me closer to photography.
