For all the single ladies out there, you may be thinking that Valentine’s Day is the only time of year when you can spoil yourself without a man. But there’s another opportunity: National Boyfriend Day.
This fun holiday is fast approaching us this Oct. 3, and I decided to come up with a list of five ways you can be your own boyfriend.
1. First thing after you wake up, tell yourself you’re beautiful. Whether it be on a sticky note posted on your mirror or from your very mouth said out loud, disregard your wacky hair and morning breath and acknowledge your natural beauty. Your relationship status has nothing to do with that.

2. Take your time getting ready. Makeup or no makeup, casual or dressy, make sure you feel comfortable and confident in whatever look and outfit your heart decides on.

3. Go to a local floral shop and pick out your favorite kind of flower. It can be as simple as a singleton or as boisterous as a bouquet. Either way, go with whichever speaks to you and makes you feel the most appreciated.
Not into flowers? No worries! Look for a new house plant or succulent instead to bring more life to a bare table or countertop.

4. Treat yourself with a date by going anywhere you’d enjoy your own company, whether it be at a movie theater playing the newest rom-com flick; a restaurant overlooking water or a sunset; or even your house, with you cozied up under a blanket and reading a book by your favorite author.
You could also go for a walk, have a shopping trip, or jump in your car and drive around while listening to your go-to playlist. The possibilities are endless!

5. Finally, after you’ve changed into your pjs and are about to hit the hay, remind yourself that even though you don’t have a boyfriend to pamper on this particular day, you have yourself. And you deserve to pamper yourself any day because every day is You Day.

Don’t let holidays like National Boyfriend Day bring you down when you’re single—think of them as opportunities to treat yourself and remember just how special you really are.
No man in the entire world can ever take that feeling away from you, and your relationship status doesn’t define you!
