7 Simple Ways To Refresh And Revive Your Life

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Winona chapter.

Ever feel like your life is a routine? You get up, get ready, go to the same places, with the same people, doing the same things. It’s not like you really have the power to change that routine basis, but maybe there’s a way to get that refreshed fix in the midst of it all. Here are seven simple things you can do to rejuvenate your routine life.

Cut your hair. New hair, new you. Even just bringing your damaged hair back to life is refreshing, or maybe even a new color or style. Just do it. There’s something so satisfying about making that change.

Rearrange your room. Switching up where things go is a great way to revamp your space and give you a new life at home. Not only do you get a new twist to your room, but it’s a great opportunity to deep clean everything. Create a space that has positive energy to support your personality.

Clean out your closet. A quick sweep through your closet can provide you with a great sense of fulfillment. For one, it frees up space. Not only can you now see everything you have, but you have more space for new purchases. The most beneficial part of a good cleanout is the gratification of giving to those in need. Donating your clothes to those who actually need them is an amazing feeling. Find a charity that has meaning to you and send your clothes their way. This gives you a sense of appreciation for what you have and also a new perspective on how it’s the little things that help the most.

Reconnect with an old friend. Life gets busy sometimes and it’s natural for friendships to drift apart. Your routine consists of the same people, so reach out to someone outside of that circle. Call up that friend who you haven’t talked to in ages. Grab some coffee with them and catch up on things outside of the norm. Reconnecting with people is a great way to step out of that usual pattern and separate yourself from the usual interactions.

Cut something bad out of your diet. We all have that one thing that we are guilty of splurging on. Maybe it’s eating that McDonald’s breakfast or consuming too much coffee throughout the day. Whatever that guilty pleasure is, try to limit your intake. Maybe cutting it completely from your diet isn’t realistic, but moderation is key. Instead of drinking three cups of coffee, only have one. Use tea as an alternative to get that extra source of caffeine. Not only is better for you, but it makes you feel better too. There’s such a satisfying feeling when you start noticing the benefits of cutting out an unhealthy habit from your diet.

Buy a new planner. Who doesn’t love a good planner? Splurge on that Lily Pulitzer agenda and get everything in order. Take time to go through your schedule and put everything in your planner. Simply writing down all your upcoming events, assignments or exams is a great way to get organized and relieve some stress.

Add something new to your schedule. Adding something new to your schedule makes you step outside that usual routine and challenges you. Don’t add something simple; make it meaningful and involving. Choose to take a walk without electronics during your break instead of watching Netflix. Challenge yourself to go above and beyond your usual limits. It sounds crazy that a walk could have such an impact, but being outside, getting fresh air, and separating yourself from everyday stressors (and your phone) is so beneficial to your health and well-being. If exercise isn’t your thing, consider reading, cooking or crafting. Find something new to occupy your time and watch as the benefits unfold in front of you.

Step outside of your routine and make a simple change to refresh your life. Once you realize that the little things have a big impact, you’ll begin to incorporate those simple acts into your everyday life and become a happier person.
