It’s springtime… kinda. I think a lot of us were hoping for the warm, sunny days that the spring season entails; unfortunately, we have not had that luxury. In the hopes of more warm, sunny days to come, I have compiled a short list of some of my favorite songs that remind me of the spring season. Here’s to the end of the snowy season! :)

1. “Spring” by Two Door Cinema Club

This is probably one of my favorite songs by this group, as the electric guitar in the chorus (when it plays for the second time, listen to the song and you’ll understand) takes me to a flowery, green landscape under a blue sky. I just feel the sound emanating warmth and sunshine. It’s not only about love in the spring season, but I think the music really captures the essence of what the season really brings.

2. “Listen to the Music” by The Doobie Brothers

My go-to self-care Tuesday song! I do not think anyone can listen to this song without a smile on their face. The acoustic guitar is so lively and upbeat, plus it always makes me want to dance, whether in my room or in the car! I love the message and the way it makes me feel. If you need a little brightness, I recommend this one!

3. “Dear To Me” by Electric Guest

If you’re looking for a new song to listen to while cruising down the back roads with the windows down, I have the perfect song for you! I’ve been obsessed with this song for years, and when the weather is sunny, bright, and breezy I always listen to Dear To Me. It has an easy listening beat, and a little fun fact for any fans of the Haim sisters, they do the backing vocals in the chorus!

4. “Mr. Blue Sky” by Electric Light Orchestra

A song about the blue sky––obviously a must-listen for the spring. We need more of the bright, blue sky and this song really encapsulates not wanting to see it go away, as it questions why the blue sky took so long to return—a question I’m sure many of us are asking. Also, any group that involves an orchestra is always going to be on my playlist. If you’re into more disco, but beautiful violin playing as well, Last Train to London is another really great song by them too!

5. “Golden” by Harry Styles

One of my absolute favorite songs by him, besides Canyon Moon. Golden just makes me think of sunshine. I always want to dance around when listening to this song and I feel like it’s so hard to not exude sunshine yourself as a listener when playing it.

6.” Love You For A Long Time” by Maggie Rogers

I had to include a love song, and this one makes me think of spring/summer love. I cannot help but imagine driving around with a nice breeze and a bright blue sky and just falling in love. It not only makes me hopeful in my own relationship, but the song just always makes me smile my brightest, and I just feel the love that Maggie Rogers is discussing. Finding that one perfect person and knowing that they will always be the one, your forever person and soulmate, is a beautiful feeling to have.

BONUS SONG: “As It Was” by Harry Styles

Everyone must have this song in their springtime playlist. Sure, it’s about dealing with loneliness, but I think that aspect is extremely relatable. The 80s aesthetic to the song, how boppy and dancey the tune is, is the type of song to listen to while dancing in a field, or while cruising with the windows down. Harry Styles really outdid himself this time and I think most of his fans will agree with me when I say that this song made the wait totally worth it!

To wrap up, I hope you all are enjoying the rest of the semester, and I hope these songs bring at least a little bit of brightness while we are all trying to get through the rest of the school year. I just want to see everyone smile at least just a little. :)
