The Truth About False Lashes

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Williams chapter.

If you haven’t tried false lashes yet, you’re missing out on a major glow up. False lashes has been my greatest discovery because it has allowed me to wear little to no make-up and still feel like a girl preparing for her debutante ball. In our day there are cheap and low quality products that can sneak up on you everywhere, so when it comes to lashes, you should know how to wear them and where to buy them. Believe me when I say you need to invest in the right pair of lashes. When I was still a lash novice, I made the mistake of buying a cheap pair of lashes, and let’s just say cheap false lashes and an extremely windy day by the beach do not exactly match.

I think that mink and silk lashes tend to be better than the synthetic lashes that most stores sell. Synthetic lashes are nice especially because they are convenient; most stores sell them pretty cheap. Although mink and silk lashes tend to be a little bit more expensive, they are worth it. These lashes are normally softer and thin. These lashes can also be worn multiple times. They are really nice because they have more of a natural look (as long as you place them on correctly — which would be as close to the lash line as possible).

A perfect place to get false lashes is Kenzi Kashae Cosmetics (find the website here https://kenzikcosmetics.com and they’re only $13!). This company is a recent company founded by Howard student Kenzi Whetstone and her mother Sherita Whetstone. Although the company is relatively new, her lashes do not fail. I love Kenzi’s lashes because she has a different pair for every situation. Check chasers are a little calmer and for the days when you need a little flare. Primetime are the lashes that say “Yes, I may not be Beyonce but I’m still a freaking star.” For a little more elegance with simultaneous bossness there’s Night Jewel.

You know when Drake said “Sweatpants, hair tied, chillin’ with no make-up on. That’s when you’re the prettiest”, I definitely thought that he was on to something, but then I discovered something; lashes. Don’t get me wrong there is something really empowering about having a clean face and looking in the mirror and still realizing you’re still gorgeous. I’m also still a huge fan of an occasional beat face, however, do not underestimate the power of lashes.
