Homemade Sushi Recipe

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Williams chapter.

This is a fun and simple guide to making your very own sushi rolls.  The fillings and toppings are completely up to you!

Ingredients:

  • 10 ounces salmon (or any raw fish)
  • 2 avocados
  • 2 cups of sushi rice
  • 3 cups of water
  • 1 cucumber
  • 5 sheets of nori seaweed
  • Bamboo sushi mat
  • Soy sauce/ginger/wasabi for serving

Directions:

  1. Rinse the rice in a colander, then combine it with the water in a pot.  Bring this to a boil, making sure all the water is absorbed. Let cool.
  2. Place the seaweed on the bamboo mat.
  3. Add an even layer of prepared rice on top of the seaweed.
  4. Cut the salmon, avocado, and cucumber into long, thin strips.
  5. Layer salmon, avocado, and cucumber horizontally on the rice.
  6. Using the mat, roll the rice and fillings up tightly.
  7. Using a knife, slice into small increments and enjoy.
