Fashion When It’s Freezing: How to Keep it Hot while Staying Warm

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Williams chapter.

Even the most hardcore fashionistas agree that winter is a tough season for style. The harsh winds and sub-zero temperatures – hi, Williamstown – make it impossible to wear anything but the thickest of coats and snuggest of snow boots. Your wardrobe won’t see much variety, and most people won’t even see your outfits, thanks to the copious amount of layers the weather demands.

Luckily, I scoured Amazon for the best winter-friendly accessories to help you keep it cute (and cheap!) without also keeping it cold. Here are my findings:

  • Lenikis  Bow Warm Wool Gloves

https://www.amazon.com/Lenikis-Womens-Winter-Gloves-Fingers/dp/B07Y8B7DGG/ref=sr_1_49_sspa?keywords=cool+gloves+for+women&qid=1572721811&sr=8-49-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUExWEVKRlpRS1lFVFE5JmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwNjQ0ODU4RjJKTUEzVE9MUDhMJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTA4NjU1OTUyTFVVSlM3N01JV0M5JndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfYXRmX25leHQmYWN0aW9uPWNsaWNrUmVkaXJlY3QmZG9Ob3RMb2dDbGljaz10cnVl

These adorable gloves by Lenikis are classy and versatile. They work on touch screens, and they’ll definitely keep you cozy – they’re made out of warm wool with fleece lining. They come in five colors (my personal favorite’s the grey) and go for $11.99. Also, they have a 100% 5-star rating! (Okay, out of 5 people, but still.)

  • Casual Comfy  Crew Socks

https://www.amazon.com/Womens-Socks-Casual-Cotton-Assorted/dp/B07V3VGPR9/ref=sr_1_17_sspa?keywords=cable%2Bknit%2Bsocks%2Bknee%2Bhigh%2Bcute%2Bwomen&qid=1572722874&sr=8-17-spons&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEyV01OTUtHMERKT0kxJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwODU4NDgyMlYwVkhISkNaSTJORiZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwMDA5OTY2MlQ5UE5PUVA0RjkzRCZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX210ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU&th=1&psc=1

If knee-high socks are a little too much for you, but you still want a decent amount of coverage for the winter, then these Double Couple crew socks are perfect. You can get five pairs of warm wool socks for only $10.99, and they come in all different kinds of styles; there’s colorblock, patterned, solid colors… Your toasty toes will thank you!

  • LCTZN Pom Beanie Hat Scarf Set

https://www.amazon.com/LCZTN-Womens-Beanie-Winter-Slouchy/dp/B07J4NQ7Q9/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=cute%2Bscarf%2Bfor%2Bwinter%2Bwomen&qid=1572723219&sr=8-5&th=1

This matching beanie and scarf set from LCZTN will do the business of keeping your head and neck warm, but you won’t have to worry about that weird bulge that happens when you tuck the ends of your scarf into your coat. The set (sold for $14.99) comes in 7 basic colors, and the beanie has a sweet little pom-pom at the top. Also, the model just looks so warm.

  • VOHIC Leg Warmer Boot Cuffs

https://www.amazon.com/Women-Winter-Warmer-Cable-Button/dp/B077JRL3BH/ref=sr_1_31?dchild=1&keywords=leg+warmers+for+women+winter+cute&psc=1&qid=1572723737&sr=8-31

When plain old socks aren’t enough, boot cuffs will add an extra layer (literally) to your ensemble. These cable knit boot cuffs by VOCHIC will jazz up your snow boots and give you that extra bit of warmth you need. You can buy two pairs of cuffs – one furry, one with buttons – for $12.99. If you’re not into the furry one, Loritta (https://www.amazon.com/Loritta-Winter-Crochet-Knitted-Toppers/dp/B07GDZZXTL/ref=sr_1_9?dchild=1&keywords=leg+warmers+for+women+winter+cute&psc=1&qid=1572723737&sr=8-9)  also offers 4 pairs of different-color boot cuffs in the button style for $16.99 or you can buy four with tassels, which is just as cute.

As we get closer to the dreaded Williamstown winter, remember to keep your head up and your outfits smart. Seasons come and go, but style doesn’t have to. Happy shopping!
