On February 1st, Parks and Recreation was officially added to Netflix Canada, which may be one of the best things to happen so far in 2021. I find this show to be greatly underrated because it is such a great watch. It should definitely be up there with shows like The Office and Brooklyn Nine-Nine. If you’re not interested in watching yet, I’m sure I can change your mind.

In case you have no clue what Parks and Recreation is, it’s a sitcom mockumentary somewhat similar to The Office. It takes place in the fictional town of Pawnee, Indiana and centers around the town’s Parks Department. The show has around 126 episodes that span over seven seasons. Despite its length and great premise, for some reason, this show does not get as much love as other sitcoms.

Like the majority of long-running sitcoms, Parks and Recreation develops a lot. From the first season centering around a pothole in the ground, the show really grows and takes a turn in later seasons. Like other sitcoms, Parks and Recreation pulls you into its world. You’ll fall in love with the town and the people in it. It’s also super funny and you’ll be sure to have some good laughs.

Another reason why you have to watch this show is because of the characters! They are so relatable and you will definitely find yourself connecting with them instantly. It’s the characters that bring the show to life. Who has not related to April Ludwig or Ron Swanson (aka the best duo on the show)? And, who hasn’t had a boss like Leslie Knope? I know I have! This show also has a very strong cast, starring Amy Poehler, Nick Offerman, Chris Pratt and in later seasons, Adam Scott.

If you have yet to see this show, I wholeheartedly recommend it. If you have watched it, then watch it again! It’s really easy to follow along with the plot without demanding too much of your attention, making it a great show to binge in the background while doing schoolwork. Again, it was added to Netflix Canada on February 1st, so make sure to add it to your list. Happy watching!
