With dropping temperatures and pumpkin spice abound, fall is definitely here! You can call me ‘basic’ all you want—I’m still donning my sweater, grabbing a latte, and probably finding a pile of leaves to just chill near and bask in the glory of all that this has to bring.

^^ This will literally be me for the next month.

If you’re not quite ready to throw your tank tops and beach days behind you, maybe one of these will get you into the fall season.

Stuck in Love (2012)

Yes, I know it’s sad, but also sweet? Maybe I just like to cry. But as every great story of love and family and forgiveness must, Stuck in Love also features some delicious Thanksgiving dinners, just in time to get you excited for Reading Week! Just hopefully, ya know, a bit less dysfunctional.

When Harry Met Sally (1989)

This is such a funny, feel-good classic! You’ll laugh over Harry and Sally’s wild and rocky friendship/sex-ship/relationship, all while drooling over how stunning Central Park is when the leaves turn colour! Good Will Hunting (1997)

If this downtrodden math genius can pick himself up (always, of course, with a little help!), then so can we! This movie is perfect for spending fall on campus since it’s set at the BEAUTIFUL Harvard University in Boston and has some insanely gorgeous autumn backdrops. Plus, with the late great Robin Williams, how can you say no?

The Longest Ride (2015)

Look, I know this technically has absolutely NOTHING to do with the fall, but all those Hallmark movies I probably shouldn’t be watching so much have made ‘autumn’ and ‘country cowboys’ basically synonymous. And really, you can’t go wrong with a good Nicholas Sparks romance! You’ve got some hot apple cider handy to cry into.

Besides, who needs pretty leaves when you have him:

Exactly.

Addams Family Values (1993)

It’s not quite Halloween yet, which is why this is the perfect movie to bridge between holidays! You’ll get a little bit of that spooky goodness before we really get into the season, but mostly you get to enjoy Wednesday’s spectacular — sorry, chaotic Thanksgiving performance!

Literally ANY Fall Hallmark Movie

I AM NOT ASHAMED TO PROFESS MY LOVE FOR THESE. Fall Hallmarks and their Harvest Festival pumpkin-laden farm boy goodness beat the Christmas ones any day! I’d recommend Harvest Moon or October’s Kiss—both readily available on Netflix for all your cliché romance needs!

And there you have it, my pumpkin spice-loving lovelies! Some great flicks to get the fall vibes going. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go light one of my pumpkin candles, curl up in a blanket scarf and start streaming. Happy Fall!

Brittney is a fourth year History and Medieval Studies Major with minors in English and Spanish - so, basically, she's a massive nerd who does research for fun and is totally fine with that! She loves reading trashy romance novels and not-so-trashy fantasy novels, attempting to write short stories (likely also romances, trashy level TBD), researching obscure folklore, and belting out to her favourite broadway tunes. When not writing for Her Campus, you'll probably find her bingeing some new telenovela or joining yet another campus club!
