For everyone who hasn’t heard the new song I am Woman by Emmy Meli, please stop reading this and go listen to it- as first, you will then understand everything I say in this article, and secondly, it’s an amazing song.

Most importantly, I fell in love with the message that Meli had created within this song. For someone who has always struggled with self-love and having confidence in myself, this song discussed everything that I should be embracing. When this song was released, Meli posted to Instagram, explaining the meaning behind it. She discusses how music is an important part of her life and how she wishes she could live there forever; her songs carry her voice and she isn’t wrong. She wrote the song using her daily morning mantras, which created this uplifting piece of art.

Meli writes, “I wanted to create a song that would enrich and uplift women. I wanted to write something that would remind every little girl on her way to school that she is strong and she is never alone. I wanted women to feel good in their bodies, to create a space where there is NO SHAME. NO judgement. NO hatefulness. NO longing to look like a societal standard. I wanted women to feel unapologetically FREE and beautiful. Because being a woman is sacred,” (@emmymelimusic).

As a woman, I have never had something resonate with myself as much as what she had written. The meaning behind this is so powerful and beautiful; it came from a woman who has an influential voice to speak on behalf of us women. I believe Meli created an anthem for women’s empowerment. The song is to empower us to be our most authentic selves, as well as love ourselves with great passion.

This song is now being incorporated into my daily routine, specifically when I’m getting ready in the morning. By starting my day off with this song, I feel the confidence in myself begin to radiate. After listening to the song many times, I’m beginning to embrace myself and my body for who I truly am. Appreciation of ourselves is something that we all need to be doing more of. It is something that we forget to do; yet, listening to this song in the morning has become my daily reminder. It is a song to play when you need a confidence boost, a song for when you are feeling yourself, or even just for any time of the day when you want to jam out.

Meli created a powerful song about embracing who we are as a person and appreciating every single detail of ourselves. We need to listen to her message and start incorporating this into our daily lives; we need to learn to love the person that we are.
