Buying an Advent calendar can be a hit or miss. With so many circulating around during the holiday season, it is hard to know which ones are worth your money and which ones you should pass up on. With the rise of unboxing videos on social media, holiday calendars have become increasingly popular, and many brands are releasing their own versions of the calendar.

No one wants to spend their hard-earned money on a calendar with a hefty price tag that ends up only containing stingy samples and random knick-knacks (Yes, Chanel, I am looking at you). Advent calendars should be fun and provide you with products you can use and enjoy without feeling as though the calendar wasn’t worth your money. I have compiled a list of some of the best holiday beauty calendars that I believe are worth it!

The body shop

The Body Shop has put out three different Advent calendars this year, all with different price points. The cheapest of the bunch, The Joy Advent Calendar, is priced at $89 with a value of $145, Share the Love Big Advent Calendar is priced at $129 with a $193 value and the largest box, Share Love & Joy Ultimate Advent Calendar, is $195 with a value of $311. Coming out with three different boxes is helpful in allowing people to pick the box that best fits their budget! With many different body care items, including body butters, lip products, hand cream, moisturizers, face wash, masks and more, these items are perfect to gift to others or to treat yourself!

Lush

For bath bomb and body care lovers, the Lush Advent sets will be perfect for you! At a bit of a higher price point, they have the 12 Days of Christmas set selling for $114.95 and the full Advent calendar for $299.95. Including some of their top-selling bath bombs, bubble bars and shower gels, along with new and exclusive items, these sets are well worth their price point.

Clinique

The 24-Days of Clinique Advent Calendar is a great way to try many of Clinique’s products, including face wash, moisturizer and makeup products. Clinique’s great range of products in their Advent calendar includes many of their best sellers. Priced at $99, with a value of $227.50, this calendar is not one to pass up on! This Advent calendar can be purchased from many different retailers, including Shoppers Drug Mart, Hudson’s Bay and the Clinique website.

NYX

The NYX Gimme Super Stars! Holiday Advent Calendar is regularly $80 but you can score it now for 50% off on the NYX website! This calendar includes a variety of makeup products, with the majority being lip products and single eye shadows. Although this calendar would be great for new customers, if you have already bought an NYX Advent Calendar in 2020, there seems to be a lot of overlap between the products.

OPI

If you are a nail polish lover and want to try out OPI’s variety of nail colours, then the Nail Lacquer-Mini 25pc Advent Calendar is perfect for you. With a price point of $69.95 and being sold on multiple sites including Beyond Polish, Chatters and Amazon, if you can get your hands on this Advent calendar, you will not be disappointed in what you get!

Advent calendars can be fun and exciting if you feel like they’re worth your money. Nobody wants to open a disappointing calendar and feel regret over money spent. These are a few of the Advent calendars I think are worth their price tag, and will help to get you in the holiday spirit while also providing you with new and fun products!
