If you go on Google right now and search OG YouTubers, you will see Fred, Nigahiga and Smosh named. The list will go on and on with male YouTubers. And yet, there were female YouTubers that were also there since the beginning of YouTube who are still super relevant. Here are just three notable female YouTubers that have been there since the start who are still going strong today.
Ijustine
Everyone has heard of Ijustine and has probably seen at least one of her videos when they were younger. Maybe you still watch her today? I mean, her channel has a bit of everything! One of my personal favourite things about her channel is that she does a lot of tech videos, with tech reviews and comparing of different gadgets. She also has a variety of travelling, games, food and fun content!
Jenna Marbles
Your Wednesdays just got more sexual with Jenna Marbles. She still has the same slogan and the same profile picture! Don’t worry, she still ages. She is currently 30 and proud of it! Her videos are always entertaining. My favourite videos have to be the ones with her dogs, or her DIY videos. If you’re looking to watch her videos, note that they sometimes come out on Thursdays.
IISuperwomenII
Superwomen, more commonly known as Lilly Singh, has done well for herself using the platform. Her videos became popular as she showed the reality of Indian parents from a comedic point of view. From there she was able to build a wider audience with different types of sketches. Eventually she was able to capitalize on her YouTube success by becoming the first female to have her own late-night talk show. But even with this show, she is still dedicated to her YouTube channel!
As YouTube grows we are seeing more and more YouTubers join the platform, but it’s interesting to note that it is still mainly a male-dominated platform. Honestly, we need some more strong female YouTubers out there. We have more rising to popularity like Emma Chamberlain and Liza Koshy, but we can always use a few more. So, if you’re a female and have always wanted a YouTube channel I highly encourage you to start!
