Collegiettes know the art of procrastination better than anyone. We are constantly finding any excuse to avoid our readings, or anything that involves leaving our beds for that matter. We are masters of putting things off to a later date and justifying our time spent doing anything except the task at hand. Painting our nails is the most classic procrastination tactic in the book.

Every campus girl can admit to painting her nails at the most unconventional times. Not only does it take time to paint each nail to perfection, but it requires time to wait for them to completely dry, leaving our hands unable to write or type or read. Yes, we’re low-key geniuses. Collegiettes, cuddle up with relaxing tunes, a cup of tea, and one of Her Campus’ favourite winter polishes this season on your cozy nights of blissful procrastination.

1. Winter White: Try a pearly, eggshell white colour to create a subtle version of this summer’s stark white nail trend.

2. Blush Pink: Debatably the most trendy colour of the season, yet still modest enough to count as a neutral.

3. Nude: The perfect nude polish minimizes the appearance of chips and elongates the nails. The key with nude nails is to find the shade that complements your skin tone; pink-toned nudes tend to compliment paler skin tones, and brown-toned nudes tend to flatter darker complexions.

4. Cobalt Blue: A bright, yet appropriate shade to complement the season in an unexpected way.

5. Holiday Red: Keep the classic red nails going right past the holiday season all the way up to Valentine’s Day with all shades from burgundy to bright red.

6. Icy Grey: An unconventional nail colour at first glance on the shelf, but a surprisingly fabulous neutral, especially when given a glitter accent nail.

In terms of nail polish brands, Essie and OPI are our absolute favourites. They have a wide colour selection, tend to have higher quality brushes, and the formula stays chip-free for longer than average. Sally Hansen Miracle Gel polishes are a new area I’ve experimented with and have been happily surprised. The polishes claim to last up to 14 days without chipping, and have a glossy finish similar to shellac or gel-nails with the help of a hardening topcoat.

Happy procrastinating, collegiettes! Xo
