Moving season will soon be upon us… are you ready??  On May 1st, I will be moving houses yet again, and to be honest, for a while I was dreading it.  I’m leaving my friends and my bedroom that I love.  I am going to miss sipping my coffee in the morning while looking out the massive bay window in the living room.  These negatives thoughts were bringing me down!  I needed to be positive about this because if I kept these negative thoughts with me, this move wouldn’t be a great experience.  So, listed below are my top 7 things that make moving fun!  I hope this helps you as much as it helped me to keep a positive attitude about moving!!

1. Rise and Shine!

Most times when moving, an early start to the day is key!  This is a perfect excuse to go get an iced coffee from Starbucks and your favourite breakfast sandwich.  I don’t know about you, but when I drink an iced coffee in the morning I always feel like I’m going to conquer the world!  I just recently started drinking my iced coffee with just milk and nothing else (no syrup or sugar) and I LOVE the taste, I highly recommend!

2. Did you say Decorating??

This is your opportunity to step up your decorating game!  Save up some money and head to Ikea.  Decorating is so much fun and when you set up your new room with your new decorations that you love, it will help make your new room feel like home even faster.  If you don’t want to break the bank, invest money in just a new sheet set/ duvet cover!  It will give your room a new look and be very inviting!

3. Spring Cleaning…

Before you pack that shirt that you haven’t worn in 5 years into a box… consider donating it.  Moving houses is the perfect time to take a chance to declutter.  This is the time to be frugal about throwing things away/ donating them.  Plus, it just means you have less stuff to pack and move, so it’s a win-win situation.

4. Organization Time!

Going along with packing, organize the boxes accordingly.  This way when you unpack everything, you will already be so organized at the new place!  The way I am going to organize at the new place is to keep lots of smaller items in clear bins with labels on it.  With this being said, I am going to pack all those items in clear bins before the move and then put the smaller bins in one large cardboard box, that way when I get to the new place everything is already organized and ready to be put in its place!

5. Party, Party, Party!

You have to break your new place in with all your friends!  Have a housewarming party with some of your closest friends.  This will help make your house feel like a home in no time.  Even if you only invite one or two people over, it will help make the house feel homier in no time!

6. Meeting your new Neighbors!

Moving leads to so many new experiences and it leads to meeting new people.  This move may lead you to a new lifelong friend!  I know this sounds cliché, but totally bring over some cookies to your neighbours and let them know you’re their new neighbours.  I am sure they will love it!  Get out there and meet some new people.

7. Time to go Exploring!

Chances are you are not just moving houses, but you’re moving to a new area!  It is so exciting moving to a new area because there are so many new places to explore.  Think about all the little restaurants, parks, ponds, coffee shops and so much more that will be new to you!  New adventures are always so much fun, which makes this an exciting time!

I hope these reasons will get you excited to move because I am readier to make this change after thinking about the positives of moving.  Sure, it is still going to be scary and new and you will miss the old, but you have to embrace the new and be ready for all the fun new adventures that are sure to come!
