I Tried The Pattern & It Changed My Life Forever

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wilfrid Laurier chapter.

Disclaimer: This is not sponsored by “The Pattern”. I’m genuinely just an enthusiast that decided to write an article because I have an unhealthy obsession, plain and simple.

Back in the day, I was fangirling over astrology while most girls were fangirling over Hannah Montana. For Christmas, my wish was to get The Only Astrology Book You’ll Ever Need (no really, that’s actually the title) so that I could start analyzing myself and everyone around me. I thought that by learning about the basics of astrology, I could understand people better and see where they were coming from. I learned about horoscopes by highlighting sections in thick books and analyzing paper charts determining moon signs. Clearly, a lot has changed since then.

A lot of apps are now making it easier to understand horoscopes and the hype around them. After many long centuries of waiting, “The Pattern” finally got released into Android app stores this past October! Why should you be super hyped and go download it as soon as you finish reading this article? Because it isn’t just some regular horoscope app, it’s so much more than that!

Once you fill out your profile, the app will generate a list of traits that are specifically applicable to you based on your birthday, location of birth and time of birth. Do you feel pressure to prove yourself to everyone all the time? Do you feel like an outsider even though you’re outgoing? “The Pattern” will somehow pick up on that with its creepy voodoo magic. Each trait comes with its own analysis, so you can dive deeper and learn more about yourself and why you do what you do. Or you can laugh at how inaccurate it is, but I haven’t seen anyone do that yet.

Not only does the app give you general readings about yourself, but it predicts events that will happen in your life as well. This could be career changes, relationship challenges, periods where you need to heal and practice self-love and so much more. I kid you not, my friend decided to switch career directions back in January, and “The Pattern” literally predicted that by the month. It was freaky and insanely cool at the same time.

You can also add your friends on the app as well and see how similar or different you are depending on your signs and be able to see their traits and analysis as well. The app will generate scarily accurate readings about your friendship, whether it be predicting if one of you is prone to shutting down more often or if you both like to analyze the world around you together. It truly is a unique way of learning more about your friendships and about your friends as well.

If you want to see if two of your friends are compatible together or if you’re compatible with someone else (wink wink), the app offers you the feature of analyzing the compatibility levels of different friends you have on the app. It’s hilarious and crazy, I mean what else would you want in life? What other horoscope app exists that focuses on connections between people, versus solely focusing on individual analysis?

The world is in a period where everyone is isolated from each other and although it may seem unusual, this app provides an unconventional yet interesting way to bring everyone together. Now that we’re all indoors and antsy for the majority of our days, it’s a good time to download this app and give it a go, because why not?
