How to Drink in the Most Festive Way Possible this Winter

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wilfrid Laurier chapter.

Although its only November and Halloween has only just left us, Im pretty much ready for the Christmas festivities to begin. Its never too early to get into the Christmas spirit, and what better way to do that than by drinking some Christmas spirits (yes, horrible joke, but I just couldnt resist). Whether youre planning a holiday party, a night out with your friends, or you just want to stay in and have a couple drinks while youre Christmas movie marathon-ing, there is something on this list that is guaranteed to appeal to your festive side.

Spiked Cider

Spiked cider is an awesome winter drink because its the boozy adult version of the apple cider we all know and love. Simply add some spiced rum into your favourite kind of cider (alcoholic or regular store bought cider) and voila.

White Cranberry Cosmo

This drink is for all my lazy girls out there. It requires almost no effort, because all you have to do is pick it up from the store. Its a great drink because it not overly sweet or sour, but you still get that cranberry flavour we all associate with the winter months.

Cinnamon Vodka and Apple Juice

This drink is awesome because its easy on your wallet and it literally tastes like liquid apple pie. Just mix the two to your desired ratio, chill, and enjoy.

Craft Beer

If youre not into all the sweet stuff, there are tons of seasonal beers that are perfect for this time of year. You will find lots of different breweries coming out with winter inspired beers in the next few weeks, so keep your eyes peeled at your local liquor store.

Winter Sangria

The beauty of sangria is that you can pretty much throw anything you want and a bottle of wine in a jug, let it sit for a while, and bam! You’ve got sangria of some kind. You can pretty much make it fit with any flavour palette or theme you want because it’s so versatile. Check out this recipe for apple cinnamon cranberry sangria here or this cherry mint recipe here.

Let the holiday festivities begin!
