A Guide to Killer Confidence

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wilfrid Laurier chapter.

Confidence is the difference between being unstoppable and holding yourself back.  Every day, people struggle with confidence and the ability to truly embrace what they have to offer the world. To be different or a little bit quirky makes you an individual, and it’s time you embraced that side of you. So in light of all this, we present this guide  on how to find your killer confidence!

1. Accept Your ‘Flaws’

Once you fully embrace who you are and love yourself, you truly become unstoppable.  Flaws? More like flawless! You do you Golden Hawks, and embrace your quirks. For those days you aren’t feeling so hot, have a mantra or a pick me up!  Try a playlist full of your favourite tunes to make any day better. That, or a large cup of tea! But when in doubt, always listen to Beyoncé, specifically “Flawless”.  People will love you for you and admire your ability to be yourself.

2. Do Things Your Own Way

Take control of your own destiny and embrace your personal power. You may not feel it some days, but it is always inside you! No matter who tries to bring you down, you have to do things your own way. You can’t let people stop you from doing you, whatever that may be.

3. Haters to the Left

When you’re living life on your own terms, you’re going to have haters. Not everyone will love you, and that’s okay. But never let their spiteful words get under your skin! It’s not your duty to please others; the only person you need to please is yourself, and at the end of the day you have to do you.

4. What Doesn’t Kill You Makes You Stronger

Take a note from Kelly Clarkson: when the going gets tough, you come back stronger. Life throws us curve balls we aren’t always necessarily prepared for. but you have to embrace these moments and learn from them. Don’t look back; just set your sights ahead and don’t hold back.

5. Speak Your Mind

You’re a person with thoughts, opinions, and ideas, and they matter. Though people may try and bring you down, call you bossy, or a b*tch, regardless, speak your mind. Speaking your mind is one of the easiest ways to live your life to the fullest and be satisfied knowing that you got your thoughts out there. Golden Hawks, you got this!

6. Aim for Success

Ditch that doubt; you are capable of so many things! You just have to believe in yourself and set your sights high. Clarity and knowledge come from action and trying new things, not worrying about self-doubt. You just have to take a leap of faith and just start taking small steps towards your future. Trust in yourself and your capabilities. You are a force to be reckoned with and the world is ready for you!

The world is at your fingertips, all you have to do is reach out and take it. Be confident in yourself and wake up every day feeling flawless!

You will typically see me with a large cup of tea and browsing social media under the fairy lights and reading up on my favourite lady bosses (Mindy Kaling let me be you please). Also my trivia regarding superheroes is endless. I have more music than time to listen to and someone definitely should consider taking away my blogging privileges. My love for pop culture is limitless and Netflix is the true MVP in my opinion. Contributor writer for HerCampus Laurier Stalk me and let's be friends here: Insta & Twitter: webofem
