If you currently have a crush on a guy, go ask him out! It seems scary, but the worst he can do is say no. And if he does say no, at least you know now and you can move on to someone else. But if he says yes, then you will be so grateful you didn’t waste all that time waiting for him to ask.

Another perk, today’s technology makes asking out guys even easier. All you have to do is text him and send it. The whole confrontational aspect is gone. And even if he says no, at least you can be sad without him in front of you.

How to ask him out

1. Be specific

Ask about a certain day and suggest an activity. For example: “Are you free this Friday night, and would you be interested in going for food?”

2. Tell him to ask you out

Flip the question on him. For example: “So, when are you going to ask me out? I’m free this weekend and have been craving Froyo.”

Dates you could ask him on all year round

1. Go for food

A chill first date, but try to avoid food that will be difficult to eat while still looking classy, like sushi. Trust me, it’s hard to shove a whole California roll in your mouth and feel classy. Save that goofy food for a second date.

2. Watch a movie

A chill date that doesn’t require any formality. But just be aware of how a movie can sound, if you don’t want to send the “Netflix and Chill” vibe specify a different place to watch other than your bed (for example: movie on the rooftop). However, if you are in the mood to get down, this is the perfect date to initiate some more intimate activities.

3. Bar/Club

If you need a little alcoholic confidence boost this is perfect; or if you want a fun date, something to break the ice. You can show off your dance moves (my specialty is the robot). Or you can learn each other’s favorite alcoholic drink. This date is the perfect opportunity to try and get that first kiss in.

4. Bob Ross painting session

Buy two canvases and paint (which you can even buy from the dollar store). Then put on an episode of Bob Ross, The Joy of Painting (which you can find on YouTube); you can paint together and compare your work after.

5. Go on a hike

This is a great idea to really get to know the other person as you have lots of time to talk. Plus, walking helps the brain think, so a perfect opportunity to have some deep conversations… or if you are like me, talk about conspiracy theories.

6. Cook a meal together

Show off your cooking skills…or again, if you are like me (with zero cooking skills), ask him to teach you. You can talk or listen to music while you cook. Honesty, it’s a whole vibe.

Dates specifically for fall

1. Go to a haunted house

The perfect opportunity to talk in line while getting scared, and a good opportunity for holding hands! And when it’s over, you have the perfect conversation starter to discuss if you liked it or not!

2. Carve a pumpkin

Show off your goofy side! Get creative with your design, then get messy carving. Bonus if you save the seeds and cook them together.

Dates specifically for winter

1. Go look at Christmas lights

Get dressed warm and look at some beautiful Christmas lights together.

2. Go skating/tobogganing/play in the snow

Show off your goofy and adventurous side, and make fun memories. And drink a hot chocolate after!

Dates specifically for spring

Plan indoor activities due to unpredictable weather.

1. Go to a museum

You can show off how smart you are by taking him to an exhibit you know about. Or you guys can go in blind and learn together!

2. Go to an escape room

This is a fun activity that allows you to show off your brains again! Just don’t get too competitive and yell at him.

3. Go to an arcade

The perfect activity to get goofy and get competitive.

Dates specifically for summer

1. Go for ice cream

Because who doesn’t love ice cream.

2. Go to the beach

You can go to the beach for many reasons: walk around on the shore, go swimming, look for shells, build a sandcastle, throw a frisbee, buy beach food or pack a picnic. Beaches are opportunities for lots of mini activities throughout the day.

3. Drive-in movie

It’s so romantic under the stars and movies are always perfect conversation starters. But it’s chilly, so bring blankets and pillows.

Although asking a guy out may seem scary, I think a little fear can be worth it. Take control over your love life.
