Costco has always been one of my favourite stores. There’s nothing that compares to being in a giant warehouse filled to the brim with everything you could ever need. Add in delicious food at great prices, and it’s no surprise that Costco is one of my favourite places.

More recently, Costco has won over my love with their clothing. It’s odd because most clothes sold there aren’t super stylish or on-trend, but there’s something about them I enjoy. It’s hard to be mad over Costco clothes when they’re just the epitome of Costco. And by that, I mean ragingly middle-class.

If Costco clothes aren’t following any trends or amazingly fashionable, why do I love them so much? Surely basic clothes can’t be that interesting, but, they actually can be. So, here’s why I love them.

They fit true to size.

When it comes to clothing sizes, I find most brands vary a lot. What is a comfortable fit for one brand is too tight or loose in another, and it makes clothing shopping less enjoyable than it could be. I’ve found with Costco sizing you don’t have to worry about that. Jeans aren’t going to fit oddly because they aren’t designed based around current trends that only suit one body type. They’ll fit because they’re made to fit the average person, not the ideal one.

They’re good old classics.

You don’t have to worry over if something will look okay on you because Costco sells basic pieces. Their jackets aren’t cropped oddly or labelled oversized, they’re just jackets. Good, functional jackets. Their jeans aren’t high or low rise, they’re dependable midrise and they actually reach your ankles.

I can get so many socks.

Listen, I’m at the point in my life where getting socks is a fun thing. I like having more socks than days of the week. I want to have so many socks that I could theoretically go months without washing them and never re-wear a pair. Costco sells socks in bulk, so I can buy a pack of socks and not have to worry about getting more for a long time.

They’re good quality for a good price.

Costco clothes are sturdy and well made. The material isn’t flimsy, and the seams aren’t wonky. If you stretch a certain way, you aren’t going to bust a seam. Their clothing is solid, and it’s no more expensive than what you would get at your regular retailers.

Maybe I’m just disenchanted with modern retailers selling cheap clothing at cheap prices and focusing on trends that will quickly go out of style, but honestly, I’ve enjoyed getting clothes from Costco. There’s none of the pressure to look cute or squeeze into a smaller size. You just grab what you hope will fit and make your purchase. It’s freeing. Costco clothes, in my humble opinion, are great.
