Childhood Games That You Can Still Play Today

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wilfrid Laurier chapter.

As you grow older, it’s normal to start to lose interest in your childhood games and toys. However, sometimes that wave of nostalgia hits, and we go to play those games again, only to find that the website has been shut down. How could they? You loved that game when you were twelve and so did everyone else. Fret not! Although we have unfortunately lost some great games, there are still some great ones available for us to play.

To start, we have Poptropica, a fun puzzle game that gets your mind thinking. I know I still have fun completing the different islands. It’s always fun to go back and play your favourite islands and realize how easy this game actually was. Even better, you can now beat the islands that stumped you during your childhood. You can even discover the new islands! If you ever struggle, you can always turn to the internet for help.

For those who still love a cuddle from a stuffed animal, we have fan favourite Webkinz! Owning a Webkinz used to be all the rage, but now Webkinz can be bought at Dollarama. Webkinz has changed from when we used to play, though- you no longer need a stuffed animal to play, only to unlock member features. If you were not a Webkinz fan but still loved animals, you may have played Neopets. They still have some pretty fun games that you can play today.

Last but not least, Club Penguin. Yes, it was shut down, but it was recorded to allow us to still play today. The best part? Everyone is a member. If you aren’t already convinced, this might sway you- they still have your favourite monthly parties! You can catch me playing Club Penguin every September for those fair games. Just keep in mind there are two websites you can use to play this game: Club Penguin Rewritten and Club Penguin Online.

Although there are many online games that we had to say goodbye to like Fantage, everythinggirls.com and Millsberry, we are lucky to still have a few we can play. Let’s take advantage of them and hope that maybe one day we can get some more back.
